Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

CalcAI ("we," "us," "our") is a Shopify app that helps merchants create AI-powered pricing calculators. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our App.

2. Information We Collect

From Merchants (App Installers):

• Your Shopify shop domain and associated account details provided during installation
• Calculator configurations, field definitions, formulas, and settings you create
• Product attachment data (which products are linked to which calculators)
• Billing and subscription status (processed through Shopify — we do not handle payment card data directly)
• Usage data: number of calculator renders, lead submissions

From Your Customers (End Users):

• If you enable lead capture, we collect customer name and email address when they submit the lead form
• Anonymous calculator interaction data (field selections, result views) for analytics
• We do not collect payment information, full shipping addresses, or other sensitive PII beyond what you explicitly configure

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, operate, and improve the CalcAI service
• To display your calculators on your storefront
• To deliver leads to you (the merchant)
• To enforce plan limits and billing
• To provide customer support
• To send transactional emails (lead notifications, if configured)

We do not sell, rent, or share your data or your customers' data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage

Merchant data and calculator configurations are stored in Supabase (a managed PostgreSQL database service). Uploaded images are stored in Supabase Storage. Both services are hosted on secure cloud infrastructure.

AI processing is performed via the Anthropic API. Prompts you submit through the AI builder are sent to Anthropic's servers for processing. Anthropic's data usage is governed by their own Privacy Policy. We do not send customer personal data to Anthropic.

Data is stored in the US region unless otherwise specified. We apply industry-standard security practices including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your CalcAI account is active. If you uninstall the App, your data is retained for 30 days before deletion to allow for reinstallation. You may request earlier deletion by emailing support@calcai.app.

Lead data collected from your customers is retained until you delete it from your Leads dashboard, or until your account is deleted.

6. Shopify Data Access

CalcAI requests only the Shopify API scopes necessary to function:

• read_products — to let you attach calculators to products
• write_script_tags (if applicable) — to inject the widget script
• read_orders / write_orders — only if Shopify Pricing integration is enabled

We access Shopify data only to deliver app functionality. We do not store or use Shopify customer order history beyond what is required for the features you activate.

7. Cookies and Tracking

The CalcAI admin dashboard uses session cookies for authentication. These are first-party cookies essential for the app to function.

The storefront widget does not set any cookies by default. If lead capture is enabled, form submission data is sent directly to our API — no tracking pixels or third-party analytics are injected into your storefront.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under GDPR, CCPA, or other privacy laws, including the right to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, email support@calcai.app.

As a merchant, you are also a data controller for any personal data your customers submit through CalcAI lead forms. You are responsible for providing appropriate privacy notices to your own customers and complying with applicable data protection laws.

9. Children's Privacy

CalcAI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the App dashboard or by email. Continued use of the App after changes constitute acceptance of the updated Policy.
